MasterClass 11+ Founder and Director

I am a qualified primary school teacher, specialising in language and mathematics. I have a BA Honours degree from Durham University and a post-graduate qualification from Brunel University. I was for many years a class teacher in primary schools where I specialised principally in teaching maths and English to Level 6, and I was a specialist subject co-ordinator for mathematics and for gifted and talented children. My teaching has been rated Outstanding by Ofsted inspectors.

I have been teaching extra-curricular master-classes since 1999, including those for the Government's Excellence in Cities programme. I have worked for the DfES as an advisor and standard setter for World Class Tests in mathematics and problem-solving for Key Stage 2 children. I have also been employed by Brunel University as a mathematics specialist on the Able Children's Education team and as a lecturer in raising standards in primary school mathematics teaching. Relevant Master's Degree modules include Teaching Maths in Primary Education, Assessing KS2 children and Teaching Gifted and Talented Children. I have written four books on Verbal Reasoning techniques and practice.

All the MasterClass 11+ classes are taught by me – I don't employ other teachers – so you can be sure that your child is going to benefit from top-quality teaching and my personal attention every week.

Much of the material used on the course has been written especially by me and by my husband, who is a published author. This material is only available to MasterClass 11+ pupils.

I pride myself on running classes that are enjoyable as well as challenging. I insist on high standards of behaviour so that all my pupils can focus and contribute fully in class.

I am extremely proud that every year since 2004, about 90% of MasterClass pupils have passed the 11+ exams in Buckinghamshire. I believe this reflects both the quality of the course and my teaching.
